Google

Google maps are familiar to many users worldwide.  They can be used free of charge for non-commercial purposes or for a fee in commercial applications.

Google street maps include predetermined Points of Interest and utilize the Mercator projection.

Google satellite imagery is a combination of images taken by satellites (satellite imagery) and airplanes (aerial imagery).  High resolution is provided for many urban areas around the world (especially English-speaking) as well as for tourist areas and sites of interest.

Bing

Bing street maps offer integrated topographical shading and predetermined points of interest as a part of the basemap. Detailed coverage varies for urban areas and tends further from the city centers.

Bing satellite maps are a composition of aerial and satellite imagery (taken from airplanes and satellites, respectively) and are available worldwide at varying resolutions.

OpenStreetMaps

OpenStreetMap is a public collaborative effort to collect geographic information and create free maps for any users.

Contributors to OpenStreetMap record features while they’re out and about, then upload and log these features in OpenStreetMaps’ database. That data is then processed to produce detailed street-level maps, that can be used on websites, on mobile devices, printed and copied without restriction.

Though coverage and details vary depending on region, OpenStreetMaps offers a cost-effective way to incorporate maps into your application.
